While the EEPROM is version specific; and will work on the XBOX if it *is* the same version, each EEPROM has its own unique lock/unlock HDD ID key, with a chipped box, most chips can boot into a safe mode bios and lock the HDD directly from the EEPROM. However, if you are softmodded; unless you have your XBOX's SPECIFIC HDD key, you will likely be unable to lock your harddrive without it if you unlock (which unlocking is generally not needed in most cases) the drive, you will not be able to lock it and your console may produce an Error #5.
The BIN file is *NOT* your EEPROM either, it is just a backup of it that contains it's unique key and information. You're ACTUAL EEPROM would only be effected if you attempted to TSOP flash it, which is why flashing is better with a chipped box.

And if it's not bugged, than perhaps that part of the program was never finished or has yet to be worked on. The new cactus lexicon free. Bomb factory pultec bundle cracks. Seems to me, your box is working and XBMC and UnleashX report the correct information. You worry too much, your box sounds fine, if there was a problem with your actual EEPROM (not the BIN backup of it), then you would be having A LOT more problems than a program not showing you the correct information. It could also be the program is reading the BIOS from the focus chip.
